GHK is a chain of three amino acids: glycine, histidine and lysine. It occurs naturally in the body. When it binds a copper ion, it forms GHK-Cu.
Supporting the skin’s framework
In laboratory cultures, GHK-Cu stimulated fibroblasts, the cells that build connective tissue, to produce collagen. Collagen provides structural support to skin.
More than collagen
Research in cultured human fibroblasts also found increased production of glycosaminoglycans, molecules in the matrix surrounding cells. This is another reason GHK-Cu is studied in skin-renewal research.
These studies explain the biological rationale. Laboratory findings do not establish the results of a finished skincare formula; delivery, formulation and consistent use matter.
