The Cupra 3-Step Skincare Routine: How to Use GHK-Cu Morning and Night
Share
Skincare routines fail for two reasons: too many steps, or steps that don't reinforce each other. The Cupra protocol was designed around neither. Three products. A logical order. A specific application technique that most people get wrong. Here's exactly how to use it.
Why Application Order Matters with GHK-Cu
GHK-Cu is a small tripeptide with a molecular weight of around 340 daltons — small enough to penetrate the stratum corneum when conditions are right. But it can also be blocked if you layer over it too quickly, or diluted if you apply it over a heavy product first.
The rule is: GHK-Cu goes on clean skin, then gets locked in. That's the logic behind the three steps.
The Three Steps
Step 1: Target — The Stick
The Stick is a precision GHK-Cu delivery tool. It applies a high concentration of copper peptide directly to the areas where you want it most: crow's feet, lip lines, nasolabial folds, the vertical lines between the brows.
How to apply: On clean, dry skin, swipe The Stick 2-3 times across each target area. Press and hold for 3 seconds with your fingertip to warm the balm into the skin. Do not rub. The GHK-Cu needs time to absorb rather than being dragged away from the site.
When: Morning and night. Takes under 30 seconds.
Step 2: Broadcast — The Signal
The Signal is a full-face GHK-Cu serum. While The Stick focuses on specific lines, The Signal floods the entire face and neck with copper peptide, addressing overall skin density, tone, and barrier health.
How to apply: Dispense 3-4 drops into your palm. Press (do not rub) across the full face, neck, and under-eye area. The pressing motion is intentional — rubbing creates friction that moves product off the skin before it absorbs. Hold each press for a moment to encourage penetration.
When: Morning and night, after The Stick.
Step 3: Seal — The Barrier Balm
The Seal is a grass-fed tallow occlusive with additional peptides. Applied over The Signal, it creates a semi-occlusive layer that slows transepidermal water loss and holds the GHK-Cu against the skin while it works.
How to apply: Warm a pea-sized amount between your fingertips. Press evenly across the face. A little goes further than you expect — you should feel a light, breathable layer rather than a heavy film.
When: Night is essential. Morning is optional — if your skin is dry or you have no SPF/makeup to apply over it, use it then too. If you wear makeup, The Seal is a night-only step.
Morning Routine
- Rinse with cool water (no cleanser needed unless you wear heavy overnight products)
- The Stick — target lines and focal areas
- The Signal — full face and neck
- SPF (always, non-negotiable)
Total time: under 3 minutes.
Evening Routine
- Cleanse
- The Stick — target lines and focal areas
- The Signal — full face and neck
- The Seal — lock it in
Total time: under 5 minutes. GHK-Cu works during sleep when the skin's repair processes are most active — the evening application is the most important one.
What to Expect Week by Week
Week 1-2: Skin feels more hydrated. Barrier feels calmer. No dramatic changes yet — the structural work is happening beneath the surface.
Week 3-4: Skin tone begins to even. Fine lines appear slightly softened. Some people notice a "plumper" quality to the skin.
Week 6-8: Visible improvements in skin density, firmness, and the depth of fine lines. This is where the collagen synthesis work starts showing up on the surface.
Week 12+: The results of consistent GHK-Cu use compound. Skin that has been routinely supplied with GHK-Cu shows measurable improvements in thickness and elasticity.
Common Mistakes
Rubbing instead of pressing: The most common error. Rubbing distributes product but also removes it. Press and hold.
Skipping nights: Evening is when skin repairs. The overnight application of The Signal + The Seal is the highest-leverage part of the protocol.
Using too much The Seal: A pea-sized amount is enough. More doesn't mean better absorption — it just sits on top.
Expecting instant results: GHK-Cu builds collagen. Collagen takes time to synthesise. Trust the protocol and give it 8 weeks before judging.
The Protocol Bundle
All three products are available together as The Daily Protocol — a bundled system that saves you more than buying individually. If you're starting from scratch, this is the right entry point.
